General Chiropractic Questions

What does a chiropractor do?

A chiropractor focuses on problems related to the spine, joints, muscles, and movement. Treatment may help with back pain, neck pain, headaches, posture problems, sports injuries, and general muscle and joint discomfort. The goal is to help improve movement, reduce pain, and support better function in daily life.

What conditions do you commonly help with?

At Zambian Chiropractic, we commonly see patients with:

Is chiropractic treatment painful?

Most people find chiropractic treatment very manageable. Some techniques feel gentle, while others may create a quick release sensation in a stiff joint. If an area is very inflamed or sore, treatment is adjusted to suit your comfort level. Mild soreness after treatment can sometimes happen, similar to how you may feel after exercise.

Can chiropractic help with back pain?

Chiropractic care is commonly used for back pain, especially when the problem is related to joints, muscles, posture, movement restriction, or daily strain. Treatment may help improve mobility, reduce stiffness, and support better recovery.

Can chiropractic help with neck pain?

Yes, chiropractic care is often used for neck pain, especially when linked to posture, desk work, stress, driving, muscle tension, or restricted movement in the neck and upper back.

Can chiropractic help with headaches?

Some headaches are linked to neck tension, posture problems, muscle tightness, and restricted movement. In those cases, treatment may help reduce tension and improve movement. However, not all headaches have the same cause, and some may need further medical assessment.

Can you help with posture problems?

Yes. Poor posture can contribute to neck pain, shoulder tension, headaches, upper back stiffness, and lower back discomfort. We assess posture, movement, and muscle balance to help improve alignment and reduce strain.

Appointments & Booking

What happens during the first appointment?

Your first appointment usually includes a discussion about your symptoms, health history, daily activities, and goals. We then assess posture, movement, and problem areas to better understand what may be contributing to your pain. After that, we explain our findings and discuss the most suitable treatment approach.

How long does an appointment take?

The first appointment usually takes 45 minutes because it includes history taking and assessment. Dr Ron will send you a history form to complete online prior to the appointment which gives him prior knowledge of what to expect before you even step into the clinic. Follow-up appointments are generally 30 minutes and focus on treatment, progress, and any changes in your symptoms.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the type of problem, how long it has been there, how severe it is, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people feel improvement quickly, while others need a series of visits and a longer-term plan for better recovery.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No, you do not need a referral to book an appointment at Zambian Chiropractic.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. If possible, choose clothing that makes it easier to assess and treat the painful area, especially for back, neck, shoulder, or sports injury problems.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking an appointment is essential to secure a time slot. Walk-ins are accepted but they will have to wait for an available time to see the doctor.

Dry Needling Questions

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a treatment used to target tight, painful muscle knots called trigger points. A very fine needle is placed into the affected muscle to help release tension, improve movement, and reduce muscular pain.

Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?

Dry needling uses similar fine needles, but the purpose is different. It is used to treat muscular tension, trigger points, and movement-related dysfunction rather than following the traditional acupuncture approach.

Does dry needling hurt?

Most people feel very little when the needle first goes in. When a tight muscle is reached, you may feel a brief twitch, cramp, or ache. This is normal and usually settles quickly. Mild soreness afterwards is also common and usually temporary.

Can I come in just for dry needling?

Yes, depending on your needs. However, it is often most effective when used as part of a broader treatment plan that may also include chiropractic care, soft tissue work, and exercise advice.

Exercise Therapy & Sport Injuries

What is exercise therapy?

Exercise therapy uses specific exercises to improve strength, flexibility, stability, posture, and movement control. It is often used for back pain, posture correction, sports injury recovery, and helping prevent problems from coming back.

Do you treat sports injuries?

Yes. We commonly help active adults, gym-goers, runners, cyclists, and other sports participants with muscle strain, joint stiffness, overuse injuries, mobility problems, and recovery support.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes. Virtual consultations and second opinions are available for people who live far away, travel often, or want professional advice before booking in-person care.

What is a virtual consultation?

A virtual consultation is an online session where we discuss your symptoms, health history, movement concerns, and possible next steps. It may include self-care advice, exercise guidance, posture advice, and help deciding whether you need in-person treatment or referral.

What is a second opinion?

A second opinion gives you the chance to get another professional view on your problem, diagnosis, treatment plan, or recovery progress. This can be useful if your pain is not improving, if you are unsure about previous advice, or if you want help understanding your options before moving forward.
