What If I Could Take You With Me on Travels With Tau?

In a few weeks, I begin Travels With Tau and I will leave Lusaka and head south on an overland journey through Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

Like many adventures, it began with a map, a vehicle and a dream.

But over the past few days, another thought has been growing in my mind.

Perhaps this journey isn’t just mine.

Some Journeys Are Meant to Be Shared

Every day I meet people who dream of travelling. They have a list of places they have always wanted to see, wildlife they have always wanted to experience, or roads they hoped to drive one day.

Some have spent decades building careers and raising families. Others have faced illness, disability or financial circumstances that have placed those dreams just beyond reach. Life has a way of changing our plans.

Yet dreams rarely disappear.

They simply wait.

What if there was another way to experience them?

What if, for a little while, I could become your eyes on the ground?

Not by filming another travel video, but by travelling with your story in mind.

The Stories We Carry

Travels With Tau

Perhaps you have always wanted to watch the sun rise over the Namib Desert.

Perhaps you have dreamed of hearing a lion roar in the African night.

Perhaps there is a place that holds a special memory of someone you loved.

Or perhaps there is simply a road you’ve always wondered where it leads.

As I travel through Africa, I would like to carry some of those dreams with me.

Not as a tour guide.

Not as a travel agent.

But as a storyteller.

When I stand on a dune, sit beside a waterhole or camp beneath a sky filled with stars, I want to tell stories that belong to real people.

Maybe one of them will be yours.

Every Road Has a Story

I’m not making promises. Africa has never worked that way. Wildlife follows no timetable, roads have their own plans, and overlanding is filled with unexpected detours. In many ways, that uncertainty is part of the adventure.

But perhaps the journey itself is what matters most.

So today I’m asking something very simple.

Tell me your story.

Is there somewhere in Southern Africa you have always wanted to visit?

Is there an experience you have dreamed about for years?

Is there a memory, a promise, or a place that still calls to you?

If your story is deeply personal, I’d be honoured if you shared it privately. Some stories are meant for the world, while others deserve to remain between us.

Over the coming months, I hope to choose some of these stories and carry them with me as Tau and I explore Africa—one road, one campfire and one remarkable story at a time.

Because perhaps the greatest journeys are not measured in kilometres.

Perhaps they are measured in the lives we touch along the way.

If you’d like to share your story, I’d love to hear from you.

The road is long.

There is always room for one more traveller.

Have a story to share?

If you could stand beside me for just one moment on this journey, where would you choose to be—and why?

The adventure is only just beginning.
